March Meeting - Thursday, March 19th

In January, members drew a color swatch from a grab bag and are challenged to add a symbol of their choice to create a quilted item. This month we get to see what’s been created!

If you were not able to select a color swatch and still want to participate, you can! Choose a color and symbol and bring your creation to the meeting to show. All are welcome to participate.

This month we’ll draw names for our 3-month Secret Sister exchange, which runs April, May and June. We’ll collect forms at the beginning of the meeting, add them to those submitted last month, and distribute the “secrets” before you leave. If you want to participate and won’t make the meeting, send a note to: tacomamqg@gmail.com. Please only sign up if you can participate all three months.

March 21st is National Quilt Day and we are celebrating by having a Sew-in! Check out “Fun Stuff” for details. We will also collect February’s Block of the Month, have nametag (be sure to wear yours!) and birthday raffle drawings. and Show and Tell. Have something you need input or recommendations on? Bring it and you’re sure to get some great feedback.

March BOM - Paper Planes!

Who doesn’t love Paper Planes? For our March Block of the Month, we’re using a free paper pieced block by Kristy at Quiet Play Designs. In addition to her FPP designs, she also has tutorials if you need a little help getting started.

Get the pattern: PaperPlaneFPP

Please use blues (baby blue to indigo), whites and grays. Prints or solids. Feel free to express your own unique vision and have fun with this! Remember this is an 8 1/2-inch unfinished block. The Community Quilt group will square blocks up.

February Meeting - This Thursday, February 20th

Lots of fun planned for this month, so be sure to come to the February Tacoma Modern Quilt Guild meeting.

Thursday, February 20th - Social time at 6:30 p.m., with the meeting starting at 7.

Meeting Agenda

We’ll start off with birthday basket raffle drawings for great prizes donated by members who have February birthdays as well as a few donations the guild received from QuiltFolk. (Be sure to bring your dollars!)

Plus, there will be committee reports, announcements regarding upcoming events and activities, a couple make and take items and of course, Show and Tell!

If the weather holds up, we’ll even be treated to a gorgeous sunset.
