April 2021 Shenanigans
Spring has arrived and the sunshine and longer days have been wonderful! We continued to meet via Zoom video again this month. This month's icebreaker: "When and how did you learn to sew?” was a hoot. Apologies to good Home Ec teachers everywhere, evidently not many of us got a good one.
The Virtual Retreat was sew fun, it is always a good time when you get to sew with guild members. Got some great tips on tools, patterns and those amazing ruler grippers (thanks “the other Julie”) We have nothing else scheduled for April except the 4th installment of our La Fin du Monde sew along. Some people (CL) are definitely over achievers. The rest of us our coming along, although I still think our fearless leader’s July Sew and Tell finished top date may be optimistic.
This month we dropped off 20 quilts of various sizes for foster kids and 31 compression pillows for breast cancer patients. Many of our members were also busy sewing masks at the Retreat to fill a request forwarded to us by a member’s daughter-in-law whose volunteers in homeless shelters on her days off.
In May, we are doing a Saturday Morning Sew Along. We didn’t get a chance to do the Bijou Lovely Market Tote for the retreat so we went ahead and set it up for May 22nd 9am to Noon. We will have the sign up on the Webpage shortly. It will be a free class, but we ask that you sign up so we can send you the link for the pattern and supply list . LW will also demo some tweaks; zipper pocket, plain pocket and snap closure.
Hope you are all enjoying our unusual April sunshine! Stay Safe and Sew on………………………
