This year’s Spring Staycation will be held on Saturday, March 9th, at the Tacoma Arts Community Center at 1102 S 11th St, in Tacoma*. This is in the Hilltop Neighborhood, and right near some fabulous Tacoma eateries and a women-owned and run coffee shop called Red Elm. The cost is $20 for Tacoma MQG members, and you can pay via PayPal or arrange to pay via check or cash at our February meeting. (If you are not a current member, you can sign up for the guild here.)

The staycation will run from 8:30AM to 8:30PM, with half an hour of set up and clean up before and after. We will order a pizza and salad dinner around 5PM.

You can bring your sewing set up, but we anticipate that seating may be cozy (possibly two to a 6 foot table,) so perhaps consider a more curated set up for the day, with alternate projects in baskets or bins that you can switch out. We’ll have a few demo walls set up as well!

As always, the guild will have coffee going and a few treats as well! Please feel free to bring something to add to the community snack table.

If you would like to help with any aspect of this fun day, please contact Jessie ASAP. We will need help with the following things:

Coordinating a drop off area at the event—parking will be limited to the surrounding area
Coordinating a snack “potluck” / table (including what the Tacoma MQG will provide)
Organizing ironing boards/irons/cutting tables/rulers/mats
Coordinating a pizza order
Organizing a few games to be played throughout the day—perhaps a door prize raffle
Organizing small goodie bags—perhaps procuring a few items from local shops (the few that we have left 😭)
Coordinating a small member-led demo or short lesson on some aspect of modern quilting that you really excel in
Day-of help: set up and clean up

*Parking may be limited to two-hour on-street, metered parking, so please be forewarned about that. You will probably need to move your car occasionally. We will have a loading zone set up and will help you carry in your gear.
