Retreat Bag 2.0
We are so excited to announce that TMQG’s very own Janet Lenfant will be teaching a bag-making class this February at Sew Hip in Gig Harbor. Janet has been astounding us with her bags for years and we have been begging her to teach us some of her magic. Finally that day has come! Janet has extensive experience in making bags — and in particular these bags — and she will be sharing valuable tips and tricks to simplify the construction process. You will be able to apply what you learn during this class to your other bag-making adventures.
The class will be held at Sew Hip in Gig Harbor and is limited to the first 10 TMQG members to sign up. Cost is $30 plus a $11 kit fee. The kit fee will be paid directly to Janet at the start of the class. The kit will include the bag frame plus all the SF101 (ShapeFlex), Thermolam Plus, and Pelltex you will need to complete your bag. Sew Hip will provide ironing stations and cutting mats. You will need to bring your fabrics and all your other necessary sewing supplies (machine, thread, etc) — please see the supply list at the bottom of this page for a full list of what to bring.
The free pattern can be downloaded at Emmaline Bags/Retreat Bag 2.0. The Retreat Bag comes in two sizes. Because of time constraints, we will be making the small bag without the optional handles and dividers. The small bag finishes at 8 1/2" L x 5" H x 4" D and is a perfect bag to bring to a sewing retreat (ours is coming up in May!) or to use for craft supplies or even make-up and toiletries. They also make great gifts — this could be the perfect start of your holiday gift making endeavors!
