Compression Pillow Supplies Are Dwindling

It’s time to replenish the basket!

Despite COVID, breast cancer diagnosis and treatment continues to be a reality for women (and some men) in our community.

Yarrow continues to provide patients with the comfort and love associated with the beautiful compression pillows sewn by our members. The supply is running a little low, however!!

Does anyone have a stash of pillows they have been working on? Or do you have some time to sew a few Compression Pillows? Help us meet the goal of providing at least 20 pillows each month.

Details:

• Size: 7x9” pillows finished (sewn with 1/2” seams)

• Fabric: Please use quilters cotton., and remember, men use these also.

• If you stuff them, they need to be FIRM.

• If you don’t have stuffing, that’s okay, the guild has some.

August Zoom Meeting

This month we'll share Block of the Month blocks, announce a new Collage Quilt Challenge, discuss options for more online classes, and share where our favorite quilt shops are located and ways to support them.

Of course, we'll have time for Sew and Tell, so be sure to have what you've been working on handy if you'd like to share.

And don’t forget to sign up for the Curved Piecing and the Glam Clam Quilt Zoom class, taught by Nicole Weldon, will be held this Saturday. If you haven't signed up yet, do so soon as prep work is required prior to the class. Visit the TMQG website to sign up today.

Foundation Paper Piecing “VOTE” class with Emily

Saturday, August 1st from 1-3 p.m.

Tacoma MQG members - $10
Non-members and guests - $15

Learn paper piecing techniques and help create a community quilt made up of VOTE blocks. This will also be the TMQG August Block of the Month.

Once the quilt is completed Emily plans to auction/raffle/donate the proceeds to advocate for voting rights.

Curved Piecing and the Glam Clam Quilt with Nicole

Saturday, August 22nd from 9 a.m. -1 p.m.

Tacoma MQG members - $20
Non-members and guests - $25

Come and learn how to piece curves accurately, with minimal pinning in a Glam Clam quilt. Prep work will be required before class, so sign up and get your supplies right away. Search #glamclamquilt on social media for inspiration.
